does anyone have any idea why i would receive link down traps for certain cisco serial interfaces but i never receive the link up trap, even though the link came back up?Only happens on a select few routers. very annoying

thanks
Joe

Hello Mate

What snmp manger are you using on the network? For instance HP Openview has a feature within snmp event manager log only log and display or display only......?I have seen differences between similar versions of equipment where snmp is not recognised...The physical hardware had changed mid way through the production run and only the latest mib supported both sets of hardware even though its the same type of device!

I am using HP OV - none of these events are set to log only - this only happens with a few of our Ciscos. if we receive the event "link down on serial1" for example, we do not receive the "link up on serial1" event - although the link has come up and the log on the router has the link up message in it. really strange
