I would like to install the cisco secure vpn client v1.1 software on my windows 2000 laptop so I can tunnel into our headquarters 3640 router however this version only supports windows 9x and NT. I get an error message when I attempt to load the client on the w2k machine (IsDneCheckRequirements not sufficient). According to the sample vpn configurations on the cisco site, I need this client to tunnel into a cisco IOS router except I don't want to downgrade the OS to NT so I can have access to a companies network nor shell out the $$$ for a VPN concentrator. We simply want to tunnel into the 3640 using 3des encryption.
I checked out the other vpn client v 3.5 and it is not compatible as far as I know with cisco IOS routers but with the:
VPN 3000 Concentrator
v3.0 - VPN Client v3.0
PIX Firewall
v5.2+ - VPN 3000 Client v2.5
v6.0 - VPN Client v3.0
What should I do?!! Should I hold my breath and wait for an updated version that is w2k compatible? Is cisco not upgrading the the secure vpn client to w2k in order to create a demand for the vpn concentrators? Can I use an alternative client?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
