ok, here is what is going on...We have 3 locations....We'll call location 1 - A; 2 - B; 3 - C...

Location A has the servers, and the internet comming through a WebRamp router...why? NO CLUE...ha....and a cisco 1750...Mooresville, IN and Voice Line going from A to C

Location B has a router - Cico 1601 series....Franklin, IN

Lacation C has a router - Cisco 1750 series....Shawnee, OK - Voice line going from C to A

We just replaced a 64k line going to location B and C from A with a T1 line at each....Each have their own circuit because location C has to go through 2 differnt providers.

We setup the link from location A and B with HDLC, nice - simple - and clean!!!! It worked great!!!

We setup the link between A and C...and...not so good. The first time we did it we just did HDLC just to test tomake sure it works...we got it configured and the Line Protocal keeps going up and down on the interface that that particular line is connected into. We switched to Frame-Relay on location A's end and it stoped going up and down and now its...just...down....ha.

If I made any since here please give some advice...We are doing this for a company...we do not normally do Cisco routers - but for them we told them we would because it'd be cheaper but might take us longer...haha....

I have a couple questions...
FIrst and formost...what will cause the line protocal on Serial0 to go up and down like it was on both sides. It seem to do it in a certain interval...almost like it was being shut on, and off by hand. But we had the line tested and its fine.

Second would be...For encapsulation frame-relay how do we find the DLCI number...or do we configure it ourselves....IF we have to get it from the Provider....whoops we screwed up....

AND I know now that we have to get the LMI from the provider as well....

Thank you for all your help in advance,

I'm not real clear on you topology. if one or all links go a the frame relay cloud then the bouncing links are probably associated with the lmi. check with the service provider(telco) and see what lmi types they suport. the lmi will advertize the dlci to you but you will have to configure it explictly on the router. also are you useing the t1 dsu/csu modules or an external dsu/csu? your frame-relay encapsulation must match at both ends of the link. Next are these new routers with current ios's? and do's the company have a service contract with cisco? this would allow you to call cisco and get help from them.

I'm not clear, but it seems that you chose frame-relay because your line was bouncing? You cannot do that. You have to have frame-relay service being provided by your ISP. If so, they'll tell you what DLCI to use on each end of your lines, as well as verify what LMI type you should be using. However, it sounds to me like you shouldn't be using frame-relay at all.
