Search is down so.... I just brought up my first ever Cisco Router. We were a Nortel shop. After some SNMP twiddling it has finally been discovered. Are there any built in different ICONS for Cisco routers? Are there and tools that can be installed? I also received CiscoWorks2000 but it's way too big for my NMS system and I've been advised to run it seperate anyway. I'm running IOS 12.21 if it matters. What MIBS should I install? Can I use the MIBS I have in the VENDOR section.
HPOV 6.2 on Solaris 2.8 all patched. Any pointers greatfully accepted.

THANKS MUCH.

If you want different icons in NNM, then you'll need the Cisco NMIDB (Net Man Integration Data Bundle) and the NNMAdapter.jar files from Cisco's web site. I'm not sure if you require login access or if these are public.

They're used to create a bridge between NNM and CW2k so that both products know about each other and can swap data.

If you don't want full integration, then I'd simply install the NMIDB bundle (big wad of MIB's & icons etc.) on the NNM machine and it will update the icons as well as making more sense of Cisco traps.

Check out the readme's and any other instructions for specifics. Done it on Win2k but not on Solaris, but expect it to be the same process.

By the way, the icons aren't exactly glorious, but at least they easily show what kit is Cisco.

Hope this helps......

There is an integration utility.
In ciscoworks there is a scrolling window in the bottom left hand corner. Let it run for a while and then go through the posts. You will need a cisco logon.

Download and run this.
This will integrate a menu into the NNM munu bar.
You can run it to automatically update the NMIdb.

The cisco integration will take quite a bit of time. So plan some time to do it. Mine takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
