Hi. I am studying for my CCNA at the moment and for one reason and another have been blessed with sorting out the firewall solution for my company.

We have a PIX 515 and what I essentially have to achieve is quite simple but for the life of me I can't get anywhere near started. I have set up a very small test network to try and learn about and configure the firewall but I can't get as far as even getting my test computer in the dmz to ping either of the two computers in my mock inside network.

I have the Cisco PIX Firewalls official book but am struggling to understand a lot of what it is saying. I understand a lot of the principles particularly behind the different types of address translation but can't get anything into practice.

Is there anyone who wants to help take me forward in my learning. I would be so greatful!

Cheers
Justin

Hi !

Send what you want to do and what you need and we´ll see how we can help..

Best regards

Do you have an email contact? I thought I'd exercise a touch of security by not broadcasting all of my company to the known world :)

Cheers

I think when you don´t want to share your information, then you should either send only really neccesary informations (when more people have the informations you have a better chance to find a solution) or you should ask yizhar because I think he has the most experience of us !

Best regards

Try Yizhar's Pixcript application. It let's you type in specs for your firewall, and automatically generates a config for you. You can download it at
-gbiello

I agree Pixcript will build a good base for you to understand the fundementals (ie: configuration file)

it's the best resource (aside from this fourm) i have found for the PIX
but it does have it's limitations

Good luck
