We own a Pix506E and I was trying to get a definitive answer to the following question:

Are the two RJ45 interfaces 100Mbps compatible, or only 10Mpbs compatible?

Anyone have the answer?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Is there any way you can tell from the serial number? Ours would appear to be CNM7M50BRA. I know for a fact that it was purchased around April 2002.

Not that I know of...

Plug the unit into a 10/100 switch and see if it connects at 10 or 100.

The 506E has two 10/100 Fast Ethernet interfaces but you need to be running code 6.3.X
On the other hand the PIX 506 has two 10 Mbps interfaces only, they will never be 10/100 regardless of the code running.

You were spot one themut, thanks.

We now run version 6.3 and PDM 3 which is a big improvement over the old one. I can now clearly select 100Mpbs as an option on the interfaces.
