Hello,

Today I saw a brochure about the new Cisco Router 9000 series... and it says it comes with the new OS RX Software... and a question comes to my mind... is it similar to the Cisco IOS?, what about the commands?, do I need to learn a new list of command for this new model of routers or for this new OS RX?...

Any opinion?

Thanks!

I think you mean XR and are referring to the new ASR9000 platform.. The commands are mostly the same, its mostly the underlying OS that has changed. They went from monolithic code to a modular preemptive multitasking OS.

Cisco is also bringing out the ASR14000 platform which offer very high density 10gig+ circuits. Mid-line between a 12400 and CRS1.

Hello Buckweet

Thank you for replying. Yes it was my mistake, you are right, it's the ASR9000 platform with the IOS RX. So I don't have to worry about the commands?, remain the same?, in other words.. the major different is the code of the IOS itself?

Thanks again

Sorry, I did it again.. it's not RX but XR.. sorry!

Yes overall the commands are the same.. There are some features that aren't in the XR code yet, but they're coming.
