The following shows the comparison of the New and the old CCNA Exam (abt to expire 11/07/07)

The NEW CCNA Exam will contain the following topics:
BASIC NETWORKING
IP ADD/VLSM/SUMMARIZATION
ROUTER & SWITCH OPERATION
ROUTING PROTOCOLS
LAN/STP/ETHERNET
NAT/ACLS
WAN CONNECTIONS
VOIP

SWITCH ENHANCED TECH
DHCP/DNS/IPV.6
VPN
MULTICASTING
MULTILAYER- SWITCH (MLS)
GATEWAY REDUNDANCY

All the above are part of a CCNP Exam with the exception of the BASIC NETWORKING.

The OLD Exam covered the following topics:
BASIC NETWORKING
IP ADD/VLSM/SUMMARIZATION
ROUTER & SWITCH OPERATION
ROUTING PROTOCOLS
LAN/STP/ETHERNET
NAT/ACLS
WAN CONNECTIONS

I think that the new CCNA and CCENT set up makes a lot of sense. The old CCNA exam was a little light on the content unless you did the two exam method. It covered a lot of subnetting and general concepts. While subnetting is extermely important skill, it is entry level and speaks nothing of your ability to use Cisco technology. I think this will eliminate a lot of paper CCNAs and increase the value of the certification.

yep i too agree, the new ccna reduces the 'jump' from ccna to ccnp

Will they be modifying the CCNP then, to make it closer to CCIE?

fresh CCNA

The old CCIE test was basically what the CCNA exam was 2 years ago.
