Hi

We have a network for core switch Cisco 3650G and 3Com 4500
On the cisco switches IP Phones (7911) work fine but the phones that are attached on 3Com Switch don`t work. Any advice.

P.S. Newbie explain pls.

I believe cisco uses its own flavor of POE. Is this the only cisco phone on the 4500 that does not work. One of the devices is probably using 802.11af and the other is using 802.3af

You could try to turn off IGMP snooping on the switch, Cisco uses a "skinny protocol" or something like that.

Also check this.

We have 20 3Com 4500 on our network. The trick is that one of the 3Com we manage to make him work, but others not. we even try: the switch that work we make a backup of config file to TFTP than change the IP address of vlan in the config file, then we restore via TFTP on the target switch but no efect.
Any clue

Regards.

try the 3Com K-base. They usually have this type of problem documented on there support.3com.com

I have not found anything that the 3com switch cant do in terms of basic and STANDARDS based networking function.

When you say the Cisco phone doesnt work, can you be more specific? POE? using injectors or switch power? Phone powers up, but doesnt connect? phone doesnt get a DHCP Address? it will help determine where the phone is at in the little "roadmap" it uses during power up/booting.
