I have got a router 1603 in front of me which has no ip etc. I have got a config file in notepad which i want to be the config file of the router. How do i log on to the router?? I have got a console cable....do I need software?/ If yes, what and where to find it????

Please help

you only needs a console cable and the hyperterminal, which comes with Windows.
When you starts hyperterminal, choose speed(9600bps) and parity(none) and now you are into Cisco Router.
Then, copy and paste your configuration

after you get into the router go into the the global area and paste the config from the notepad. be sure to only copy what you need. save copy running-config startup-config
