Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but here goes...

I am trying to run some data through an etherspeed card in a centillion 100 chassis to verify that the card is working. I dont' have an MCP card/port in the chassis to configure the centillion. I have two ethernet ports on different cisco devices (2524 and 2611) connected to the etherspeed card (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 addresses on the cisco). Link and protocol are up on both devices but I'm unable to pass data (ping). Link is also up (LED) on the Centillion. I was hoping the Centillion would just act as a hub/switch with no configuration. When I turn debugging on it shows encapsulation errors during the ping.... basically I can't get the centillion and the cisco to talk...any ideas???

First, clear the ARP table on both routers: 'clear arp'. Make sure that the ARP table becomes populated again with the neighboring device.

For one, make sure that the subnet masks are the same. Assuming they are, make sure the speed and duplex settings match on both sides. I'm not sure that that applies here <I don't know if these routers even allow you to change those settings>, but those are my thoughts.

One other thing. Make sure that the router is sending the packets out the correct interface. Perform a traceroute and make sure the router is sending the packets out the ethernet interface.

Good luck!

Centillion 100 probably will not allow autonegotiation, especially without an MCP with advanced firmware.

I can't remember the default, But I would start using 10/half, changing speed or duplex 'til it works.
