Thank you

thanks for the refrences lemon.

my problem is that im new to cisco networking devices and i dont understand how to move around in a cisco router.

im useing hyperterminal with the right settings i just dont understand how to get in to the loopback inferface.

To learn anything you must first admit you know nothing.

theres no loopback interface, u first have to define one

R1#conf t
R1(config)#interface loopback0
R1(config-if)#ip address 192.168.0.100 255.255.255.0

how do you mean "get in to the loopback interface"? Are you trying to telnet to it instead of using the console connection?

i am using a console port on the router i thought there was a interface i was trying to get to but i was wrong thanks everyone who replied to help me
