Hi all,

I need help with a UK dialling plan please.

Currently have a 6.1 call manager (in lab) configured up for 11 digit fixed UK dialling e.g. 01223443280.

However, when speaking to ofcom I was informed there are a small number (very rare) of 10 digit numbers still out there.

The problem I have is that if I change the dial plan to use varied length 01! then this hampers performance with the inter digit timer affecting the time before call manager initiates the call.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of a fix? Also, is there a set UK dial plan for Call manager. With it being a set config I am suprised Cisco or a similar company don't offer an example or optimized one.

If you are concerned with the EOT then reduce to 4 secs or use the UK Dial plan and make use of 9.@ feature. Do not forget if you dial international destinations you are also affected by variable lengths especially with Italy, Germany Luxembourg etc. You can also create specific route patterns depending on where your cluster is e.g if it is in London then configure a London route to match the exact digit length of calls within London, if Liverpool do the same for there also a mobile route while all others can be 9.01!, 9.02! etc that way the most common numbers dialled are usually local so the set up is faster while "long distance " which care less common are effected by the EOT only

Hi, thanks for the reply.

The EOT is the main concern, reducing it to 4 secs then means it times out for slow dialers. Having it at 7 secs means there are complaints from testers of slow dialling when opening the line first as opposed to entering the number and then pressing dial.

Pos a stupid question but I dont see how the @ could resolve this??

Is it possible for you or anyone to share exactly how you have it configured?

The configuration of @ with UK Dial plan - downloadable from Cisco results in removing the issue with the variable dial length because in theory the file contains all the possible PSTN codes in the UK so there will be exact matches so the EOT is not needed. the only time you will hi the EOT is with international calls. It is the same as NANP you may see reference in many cisco sites. The issue is if the UK creates a new PSTN codes as it did a while ago for company numbers 0300 - you would nee to create a specific Route pattern for this. When using the UK dial plan you may also want to use Route Filters in addition- I do not like them but it is up to you

Hi,

Thanks again for your help.

We only have a single cluster planned for EU so don't need to configure multiple dial plans.

However, I am interested in seeing Ciscos own UK dial plan.

Could you send me the direct link please re: Downloadable from cisco results.

Thanks again
