Has anyone setup a cisco system with shoretel? meaning being able to xfer calls between the two systems? If you have any horror stories please share them...

Jacob

Oddly enough within our company we do have a Cisco system running with a department using Shoretel for the call management abilities. The initial setup of the SIP trunking to allow dial by extension accross the two was fairly painless, but now we've come to some odd issues. Currently we have 3 cisco servers, 2 of which phone clusters on can call a shoretel 4 digit extension just fine. But off one server with phones designated through it cannot dial the shoretel phones by 4 digit extension they get "your call cannot be completed as dialed". This is the horror story we have so far as we can't figure out why this one group of phones is not working normally. FYI: they worked normally up until a couple weeks ago and we can't think of any major changes that would have effected it.

I have done it via Sip Trunk also. For the most part it worked like a charm, however we did have problems with Find Me and External assignment working through the SIP trunk (Cisco used the real trunks, ShoreTel just has SIP running from SHoreTel). I have not been able to test it again for a couple of years but I think ShoreTel has opened things up to be able to sue Fine Me and External assignment over SIP. If you use a T1 interface between the Cisco and ShoreTel you would have 0 issues.

The only horror stories I had was the fact that both Cisco and ShoreTel told e it could not be done at the time, and neither would provide any support, but if you have a good ShoreTel person and a good Cisco router person (who knows SIP configuration) you will get through it in a couple days.
