I heard this rumour a few months ago however believed there was no truth in it.

However after speaking to numerous people more recently the information I have been given it sounds likely.

Anyone else heard anything?

I started by checking the post date to make sure it wasn't April fools. Yes I have heard ( in no particular order ) that:
A) Cisco buys Mitel
b) HP buys Mitel
c) Avaya buys Mitel
d) Nortel buys Mitel ( at least that one isn't going to come true.
e) IBM is going to buy Mitel
f) Microsoft is going to buy Mitel
g) Bell Canada is going to buy Mitel

It gets laughable after a while.

Look not to insult you or your sources but I've heard it all before. True, Cisco has deep pockets, but why would they buy Mitel? Cisco's gets big money from its network sales. I don't know if they even consider VoIP as anything other then a loss leader. I will believe it when I see it.

On another point with Mitel now a publicly traded company even you can buy Mitel for 11 bucks or whatever it is currently trading at.

That rumour has been bounced around since 95. I think this may have fueled recent talk.

OTTAWA, Apr 22, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Mitel Networks (Nasdaq:MITL), a leading provider of IP-based communications solutions, today announced the pricing of its initial public offering of 10,526,316 common shares at a price to the public of US$14.00 per share.
