Hi,

I have 8841 Cisco IP Phone. And the phones comes with sip88xx.11-0-1SR1-2. Looks this is SIP firmware. Can I directly configure with Asterisk system? or still I have to use the TFTP setup to upload some firmware and work on?

Can someone used Cisco IP 8841 phones with Asterisk.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

You can manually set a TFTP server so the 8841 can download. I would think through digest credentials you could set up phones with asterisk but I personally have not done that.

Thanks of the response, but interim I got a chance to talk to Cisco TAC, and they suggested to exchange the phone itself, since TFTP is only to upgrade same type of firmware, to have the phone connected to Asterisk, we need to have 3PCC firmware and using TFTP that can upgraded to higher version of 3PCC firmware.

And from SIP firmware to 3PCC firmware it can't be upgraded, but still its not acceptable for me, that it should not be so much cumbersome process.

Anyone already tried, changing the firmware from SIP to 3PCC, please let us know.

thanks.
