I've just loaded a new Wireless AP image onto a Cisco 881W - it's in split mode - where the AP has a seperate image to the router. Can this be combined?

Anyway since upgrading it whe I go to the APs web page I get a login page with a header Cisco OfficeExtend AP Login and a screen with a button marked ENTER on it - when I click that the browser shows a yellow ! sign at the bottom and Error on page.

previously I woudl get the 800 Series AP web config utility. Any help appreciated.

The image loaded is:-
ap801-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JA1

Very little to be found on Cisco.com about it

I'm running in to the exact same problem. Were you able to resolve this issue? Anyone else have any ideas?

Yes I did - I had to downgrade the AP software. Cisco clearly have a buggy upgrade, and despite being notified of that have not pulled it fromt he website.

The version I went back to is ap801-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JDA3

Because the WEB interface is not available due to this bug you have to load the new AP software image via telnet and a tftp server or ftp server etc.

Of course on most Cisco devices you'd use the copy tftp flash command. But in this case that doesn't work. I was unable to find references to this on cisco.com. Searching the net revealed the CLI command you use to downlaod a new firmware image is :-

archive download-sw

Why Cisco can't be a little more standard I don't know. The quality of their software is poor these days.

Clearly this upgarde just doesn't work - it makes you wonder about their test processes!

Hope you manage to downgrade ok.

You use the archive download command on certaibn devices due to the file structure, especially with those that have web interfaces, i.e. some 3750 switches.

Thanks for the advice. I loaded it on via tftp in the first place so it shouldn't be too hard to go back.

Ok - the version I used has been stable for a good while now.

I'll try any updates they public, but for now this one is a good release.
