Cisco 804 connecting to a Pipeline 85?!?!

I have scoured all over the net for some sort of correct way to configure a Cisco 804 to accept an incomming call from a Pipeline 85 with no luck.

I am trying to allow two computers / networks to connect to each other and route traffic back and forth, but there does not appear to be any documentation of anyone else doing this. Have tried several configurations with short connections, but the call drops and there is no traffic between the two routers. I have read that the Pipeline and Cisco CHAP have different meanings and can cause this situation, but no further data has been located yet, especially since Ascend is of no more....

The Pipeline is calling the Cisco. I have seen some basic documentation on how a Cisco dials a Pipeline but modifying that for my needs has not worked and I am at the end of a long process.

Next step is to re-activate a support contract, but I thought I would try here first.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Someone somewhere must have done this before and can tell me how.

Cisco Devices won't accept an incoming call without using some form of authentication. Also what encapsulation are you using, PPP or SLIP? use 'debug dialer' on the Cisco to get more info on what's happening.

I think Lucent now owns the Pipeline series. ----------------------------------------

We are using PPP with CHAP authentication.

The Cisco debug states the authentication is valid and accepts the call, only no packets trasport from device to device. The Ascend finally hangs up (correctly since there is no traffic) 120 seconds later.

As for Lucent owning Ascent, you are right, but they took all of the Databases and FAQ's off line so the only thing out there are bootleg stuff and people that are still running and maintaining the equipment.
