Hi all,

I've got a cisco 7961 on my desk that won't boot up.
When you plug either the ethernet cable or a powercube in all the lights flash once and then only the Mute button light stays on (red).
I've tried to hold down the hash key while plugging it in but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

2 Options that have both worked for me:

1-unplug everything on phone
- plug power brick into outlet and then phone whiling holding down the # key
-When line buttons start flashing release # key
-press 3491672850*#
-wait a minute then unplug
-plug phone back in to ethernet (and power brik if not powered switch) and phone should load new Firmware version

2- same sequence but use number sequence:
123456789*#0

Hope that helps, they both have worked for me.

Thanks for the info but I've tried to initiate the factory reset as you suggest numerous times. I can't even get past the red mute button light sticking on aftger I plug in either the ethernet or the powercube.

I'm thinking it might be FUBAR :(

Any other suggestions?

I've killed a 7970 the same way, and I am going to scrap the phone as it was bricked. Funny thing, I bought it to run in my house as a SIP phone, so I don't have the money to just go buy a new one! Great phone for the 2 hours it worked!

update, my vendor was able to attach her to callmanager and he got her blood flowing again.....

Nice story Gordon but it doesn't really help me any! lol! my 7961 still sat there with it's red mute button light on doing nothing!

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Seabs,

Do you have it connected to the call manager?

Well the problem is that I am now going to get the phone back tomorrow and I really have no clue how to provision it for SIP and I am worried we'll both be in the same boat again.

The company that got my dead phone up and running again was Arcas Technology, the contact is Jon Putnam, tell him you talked to the guy who killed the 7970 and I am sure he will be able to help you.

Hi Gordon,

Yeah it's plugged into our test CM system, it's a customers phone which they sent back to us. Already had it replaced via RMA, just fancied a freebie if I could fix it :)

This is the series of events...

You boot it holding down the # key, it lights the green headset button, then the red mute button and that's all she wrote. Just sits doing nothing. Nothing flashes on the screen or anything.

FUBAR?
