We just installed a 2950 12 port switch. We have not had a cisco acting a hub before so we are doing something definately wrong. WHen installing the disks that came with it all we get is Documentation. Which in and of itself is nice, but I think I am missing something, like an inet page to control the switch. Or is there other software I should have. The switch works good on 1 port all the rest time out (from pings and what have you) intermittently for intermittent periods of time. We verified it was some problem along the path of the switch due to bringing in hard wires that work. Any suggestions on maybe the page I should be looking for or if I need to purchase additional software or any way just to dumb this thing down so it just acts like a hub?

Thanks for your time.

Ok I found the tutorial out on packetattack.com.
We are stuck before the tutorial. I have a blue cable connected from my serial port to the console port on the 2900. I try telnetting to 192.168.50.1 and timeout.
I try the software and it has looking forever to not find anything. Need help, this should be easy to hit the box, then the manuals will come in handy. It appears we actually telnet to the box or we are supposed to.

You have a console cable connected to the switch, now you need to use hyperterminal to connect to the switch. Open a new connection in hyperterminal. You need to connect on Com 1 (or possibly com 2) with 8-n-1 at 9600. Press enter a couple of times and you will be consoled into the switch.

We got the telnet setup and are in.
We setup an ip inside our walls and can bring us the CMS.
Now its asking for a username and password, that does not work with either our network or what we told it in the Telnet setup. Is there some default?

Thanks
