I'm having multiple probs with upgrading a cisco 2900 switch. I'm unable to get into rommon via cntrl+break keys to upload via xmodem through the console. I was given a tip to hold down the 'mode' button on startup but that puts me in a screen that i'm not sure of what it is. It's not rommon, its just a prompt that says "switch:" my commands are limited from there too. I'm also suspicious of the file I want to upload = c2900xl-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC10
I got that from cisco.com as the most recent but, shouldn't it be a .bin file?? Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

with the mode button you get in the rommon mode. You can copy .bin image files with copy command like : copy xmodem: flash:targetfilename. .tar don´t work cos there zipped an the rommon dont support unzip commands.

I hope this helps

Regards Dennis
