Hi
I have a cisco 2520 IOS version 12.0. I dont have the option to configure IPX/SPX ie. isnt does not seem to support it. Can anyone help.

david

ps the routers config is as follows
IOS (tm) 2500 Software c2500-I-L version 12.0 (5) RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Processor board ID 12874701, with hardware revision 00000003
8192k system flash
You can check the version of IOS you are running by typing SHO VER at the command prompt. This will tell you the name of the IOS file you are running.

You want to make sure your version of IOS supports IPX.

If you have access to Cisco TAC -- they can also help you do this.

Email me if you get stuck.

Ron Howell
Cisco Systems
rhowell@cisco.com
You will need to ensure that the relevant release of IOS support IPX easy way to check is to do a conf t and input the following command :-

ROUTER(config)#ipx ? (return)

You should get the following displayed if IPX is supported

  access-list Named access-list
accounting-list Select nets for which IPX accounting
                                                     information is kept
accounting-threshold Sets the maximum number of accounting
                                                     entries
accounting-transits Sets the maximum number of transit entries
backup-server-query-interval Set minimum interval between successive
                                                     backup server table queries
  broadcast-fastswitching Fastswitch directed broadcast packets

etc.....

If not you will get the following :-
% Unrecognized command

If you need to forward IPX but have no IPX feature set you will have to enable bridging on the 2500 refer to the following URL for more info:-

<A HREF=" TARGET="_new">
