Hello!
I need to load IOS on cisco router 2511 throught console port. There is some problem. I see only " > ", when I load rmoon mode. I have never worked with this rmoon mode, and there is no xmodem command. Who no how in this model I can load IOS in flash?
Thank you.

MaxDm,

As I answered your question in the Cisco Cert area here at Tek-tips!!!!!!!

From what I have read from Google (GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND) you can do it with recent routers like 2600's and 3600's whose console ports support xmodem; however the 2500 is not one of them.

On the 2500 (2511), you'll have to load code via TFTP server thru the Ethernet interface.

here is a link -

Hope this helps!

Gene---there has to be a way to do it through rommon---the user is saying that instead of
rommon1>
he/she simply sees
>

If xmodem is not an option, perhaps Kermit, YModem, or TFTPDNLD. I could swear that I used XMODEM on my 2503...I'll have to see tomorrow at work...

Burt,

I have loaded it through TFTPDNLD or at least consoled into ROMON and then loaded it through an Ethernet port, user was trying to do it through the console and everything on line says 2500 does not do it through the console - question has been asked in several different forums I saw in Google :-(

He has been asked to post what he gets at the > with a ?

I tried do something with " B " but there are I can only copy from flash but not back. And as I sad I have not Ethernet port, port that I have is :
console, AUX, serial, AUI, ASYNC 9-16, ASYNC 1-8.

MaxDm,

You might want to go to Cisco and download the product docs for these routers -

You said - "And as I sad I have not Ethernet port, port that I have is : console, AUX, serial, AUI, ASYNC 9-16, ASYNC 1-8."

YES, YOU DO HAVE ETHERNET :) - that is what the AUI is, here is some of the instructions from ALL the docs that Cisco has up at the site -

Take the following steps to connect your router to a network:
---------------------------------------------------
Step 1 Connect the Ethernet AUI port (DB-15) to an Ethernet transceiver, as shown in . Or connect a transceiver directly to the Ethernet AUI port.........

Hope this helps!!!
