I have a group of Cisco 2501 routers which I use for a Cisco Networking Academy program with high school students.

About a month ago one of the routers stopped loading the startup-config file from NVRAM. It woudl automatically boot into Setup mode. I checked the boot register and it is showing 0x2102 which means it should be loading the configuration file from NVRAM. But it isn't.

Any suggestons would be appreciated. Why is the happening? Is there anything i can do to fix the problem?

Thanks

Does your config have a "boot-system" command in it? If so what does it say? Todd VanDerwerken, CCNA, CCDA

You may have a flash problem. Especially as 2500 series routers age the flash can go and prevent either the config or ios from loading. the easiest solution ( and cheapest ) is to change the boot register and have it obtain it's startup-config file and possible the ios image from a TFTP server on boot instead of from local flash.
