Hello,

We have a fully configured and functional router in one of our remote offices. We think there might be some power issues causing the server to reboot. When this happens, it comes back in setup mode.

In the past, we have simply entered config mode and restored the config. We then end using "write mem". But, it appears to happen again?

Has anyone had a similar issue or can see what we are doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,

John Judge

Well Just to be sure lets make sure the Configuration Register has not been changed to tell the router to bypass the configuration on bootup. Do a Show Version Command. At the bottom there should be a Configuration Register Setting. The Default is 0x2102. If yours is different it may have to be changed. This can be done by the "config-register 0x2102" command in the IOS or by booting the router in ROMmon mode. Let me know how far this gets you and we can go from there.

Thanks JR. The config-register was set to 0x42. I think this was a mistake made by local IT staff.

Cheers.

Rgds,
