Hello

To be frank I'm a big noob with router, you can even imagine. I have been a network admin for 15 yera now, but my knowledge on router is equal to 0. The only thing I did until today, is to reset the enable password on my Cisco 2501.

Anyway, I have to problem, let's start maybe with the first one ;)

I want to use my CISCO 2501 ( 2 Serial + 1 AUI (Ethernet) + 1 AUX + 1 Console) to connect my home computer to Internet via my Comcast cable connection.

My Comcast connection is not an fixed IP, but even if I have to change the router config everyday, I want to give it a try. I need to learn Router a little for ;y personal knowledge and for my work.

What I would like to do if possible, is to get a dynamix Ip address from my Comcast cable connection, and NAT to my 3 home computer (let's say 10.1.1.1 - 10.1.1.2 - 10.1.1.3)

Thank you very much for your futur help

I have no idea, how to do this ! Configuration file ???

Dont think your Cisco 2501 will work in the way you are trying to acomplish. You would need two ethernet interfaces on your cisco router to make your ideal work. The serial interfaces on the cisco router are for connecting external CSU/DSU's. For T1 circuits. For what you want to do on your network it would be easier to buy a linksys router. They are pretty easy to setup and it will let you NAT your internal IP's (10.1.1.1 - 10.1.1.3) without getting a static IP from Comcast.

if you want to connect your cable modem to your 2500 router you need to be running at least 12.1 IOS ( but I would recommend 12.2 because of the some-what comfusing version scheme that cisco has.) once you have this, in int config mode for the WAN connection ( the aui connecting to your cable modem) do a "ip ?" and you will see an option for dynamic, and then lookup the command in the Master command reference on the cisco website, and from here you should be able to find you way.
