any telnet client will do the trick for you..
teraterm, putty, securecrt, hostexplorer...
if you want more security you could enable and configure ssh to remotely connect to your routers.
if thats still to slow.. then you need faster lower latency links
i realized that when i enable "ip cef" command to the remote router my telnet connection is slow , also my ping command from the home router to the remote has not 100% reply and when i disable " ip cef" the telnet session is normal and the ping has 100 % reply...
