My cisco 1841 boots up and displays this

4¯µ>3þ¶£´> 4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>ü4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õþ4¯µ
>3þ²Ÿ7ò6§õ4¯µ>3þ¶£´> 4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>ü4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õþ4¯µ
>3þ²Ÿ7ò6§õ4¯µ>3þ¶£´> 4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>ü4¯µ>3þ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õ¶£´>4¯µ>3þ6§õþ4¯µ
>3þ²Ÿ7ò6§õ

that is all that it displays. when pressing enter I get more of those weird caracters.

Anyone familiar with this?

Looks like the wrong baud rate to me, but not sure. Try different baud rates, or look into resetting DUART to reset BAUD back to 9600...

Do I do that through the hyperterminal???

Baud for the term emulator, yes. Resetting the router to 9600, no. That is usually done on the router. The only ones I have seen a DUART reset are the 2600 series (but I thought I did this on a 1700 series?). I have found no documentation on DUART reset on the 1800/2800 series. So, your only option seems to try different baud rates (in HyperCrap) until the proper output is seen.

I did find a very useful link on rommon commands and uses...

OK. Now I found the different baud rates and it got me to the roomon> screen

I typed in

roomon 1> confreg 0x2102 or 0x102 (I know the configuration register on this router was 0x2102
roomon 2> reset

once it reboots it comes right back to
roomon 1> promt

what is happening at this point?

Thanks

What are the messages you get along the way?

lol, you have no flash in the router. The flash is where the image resides.
