I have a remote DR site that is connected to the main site via a 12 fiber link. There is a single VPN connection end-to-end.
The main site has a 2821 router acting as a firewall and VPN peer to the remote site using 3des encryption.
I want to replace both endpoints with 1841 routers with the AIM excelerator card in the 1841.
There are times when the 12M pipe gets pegged with data sent to remote backup servers.
I want to make sure that the 1841 can handle the load with no problem but I am not sure how to figure it.
Would anyone feel leery about doing this?
According to Cisco:
The Cisco 1841 Series Module (AIM-VPN/SSL-1) can provide hardware-based IPSec encryption services of 25 and 95 Mbps in the Cisco 1841 (IPSec Internet mix [IMIX] and 1400-byte packets).1
