My company just bought a cisco 1750 router for their T1 connection from an auction. It looks like the router has been wiped of its firmware. When I connect to the router via serial port I get this

System Bootstrap, Version 12.0(3)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

C1700 platform with 16384 Kbytes of main memory

device does not contain a valid magic number

Question is how do I go about loading in the firmware? I did download the Cisco Configmaker and tried to update using that but it failed to even connect. Is there a tutorial to help me with this and also were I can get the IOS software for the router.
Thanks in advanced!

ok i got to the ip address config part so i ran this command

and get this

Router(config)#int s0
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

ok for kicks i did this

Router(config)#ip address my.ip

and got the same error?

am i missing something??

thanks!!

Ok this is wierd when i enter the letter s it inputs a ^ for some reason

This is super fustrating but im learning :)

I cant seem to get into the router(config-if) prompt

I keep getting that invalid input error still

any ideas?

Thanks!

Yeah im consoled in using hyperterm

doing a

Router>sh ip int bri

I get this

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Prot
ocol
FastEthernet0 unassigned YES TFTP administratively down down

I just cant seem to get past this one hurdle. just dosent let me get into router(config-if) prompt no matter what i do.

ok i got it!
what i did was do a

Router(config)#int fa0

and i got the config-if prompt

so next question what IP do i assign the interface? a private one or the one the ISP gave us for our T1?

Is there a tutorial somewhere i can read up on to configure this to our small network of 4 computers?

I do have the manual how to intall the router. Now from what I understand the ISP installed a CSUDSU and ran an ethernet out of it. now on the back of my router I have a T1/CSUDSU port in slot 2 of my 1750 router. Do i run the ethernet from the CSDSU to that port and then an ethernet to my hub/switch?

sorry for so many questions!

would using the Cisco COnfig maker help me out with this?

Post a sh int and sh controllers, as well as sh ver. I'm not seeing (and perhaps neither is the router) a serial interface (WIC-1DSU-T1)...
The fa0 gets a private IP address, and you'll NAT everything to a public IP address. But the router needs to know about the serial interface first! You may need a better image..

ok here is that result

Now the firmware i installed was this one

c1700-y-mz.121-27b.bin

I had a this version c1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-11.T10(2).bin but when I installed it it was bigger than my flash memory.

Kind of weird sh int shows it, but not sh ip int brief...I'll have to look into this...

Now the T1 is connected thru an T1/CSUDUS wic card and the middle light is on "al" but I guess the light "cd" is suppose to be green showing that it sees the T1 is that right?

THANKS

Ok I finally got the router to the cisco configmaker and it pings it fine. Now a couple quetions
what ip address should i assign to the WIC T1 interface?
and the ethernet interface? should the share the same static ip my ISP gave me?

THis is what I have now as my IOS config

IM SOOO CLOSE to configuring this thing! :)

Thanks

Ok I got it now that I am able to ping the router from the outside and can even go to the routers Apache screen. But I cant seem to route out with in the router. So I'm close!! Any more ideas would be great. I'll continue to play with it :)

Thanks
