I have some older Cisco routers that we are using onsite. Our local telco is provisioning a point-to-point frame relay connection tomorrow. We currently have a Cisco 1721 with a WIC1-DSU-T1 V2 that connects our T1 to the Internet. The other Cisco 1721 router that is going to be installed at our offsite location has the same card. Do I need another card to connect the remote Cisco 1721 router to the Cisco 1721 router here at our headquarters? If so, what kind of card?

Thanks.

Nope, your new router just needs to be connected to your LAN.

Is your ISP router connected to a firewall?

then just put the ethernet port on the new router in the same network as your LAN and plug it into a switch. if your remote site is going to be using your internet service, you will want to put a default route on their router pointing back to your HQ.

Is a point to point connection just a spanned connection of a site that exceeds the ethernet limit? If I plugged a network cable into a workstation at the remote site then connected to the ibterface provided by telco then plugged a cable into interface provided by telco into a network switch at headquarters, would that connect that workstation at the remote site to my network at hq?
