We have 2 Cisco 1721 routers and need to setup a site to site VPN link over ADSL with ISDN failover. We are having extreme difficulty in finding a sample script and would like to know if anyone has been able to do this successfully. Even a script for an ADSL VPN site to site to get me going then I can look at ISDN failover at later date. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Howla

Wow, ok you have a lot of work ahead of you. I personally haven't configured a 1700 series with ADSL interfaces, but it isn't much different than other configs. You'll need to configure the routers in the following steps:

1. Ensure that the ADSL interfaces are configured and communicating.

2. Once you have that, configure your VPN tunnel using IPSEC. See this link, and look under the IPSEC Router to Router section.

3. Finally, configure your ISDN as a dial backup to your ADSL interfaces. You'll most likely have to use some routing tricks to failover routes to the ISDN (like floating static routes). Since your ISDN is a direct connection between sites, you won't need to encrypt that traffic.

Hope this helps!
