How do I make a circel with 6 holes in it?

I have 6 circels (which are grouped) on top of a much bigger circel. With those 6 circels I want to make 6 holes in the bigger circel, but I can't seem to find a way to do this. When I ungroup the 6 circels I manage to take ONE circel and make a hole in the bigger circel. But that's about it.

How do I make 6 holes?

first weld the 6 circles together, then punch them out of the larger circle.

You need to make the 6 circles a compound path (Object > Compound Path > Make). Open the Pathfinder window (Window > Pathfinder). Then with the 6 circles on top or in front of the big circle, select all the circles and click the "Subtract from shape area" under Shape Modes (second box I think). Hope that helps.
