Hi. I am a programmer that wanted a Meridian phone with CID display. So, I bought a 2616 phone on Ebay that the seller says is fully functional. Although the keys function fine (after someone switched my line to "16 key mode"), the CID looks like weird symbols. I unplugged my phone and plugged a friend's 2616 on my line. It worked fine with the CID. Is there something wrong with the display of my phone or must I 'do something' to make it work? Is there a battery supply inside the phone that is dead?
Thanks!

no it's just a rls that don't like your switch, we got a batch of 50 that worked on rls 17 and before, didn't save as much as we thought.. and no their is no straps or batteries etc in the set. one of the only rules nortel hasn't changed yet, never take it apart, it will just get more borke.. you might swap a display with a bad set and get luckey.. hope you can send it back.. i get 20 to 50 rebuilt sets a month from bellsouth and maybe 1 or 2 is bad, but i just put it back in the box and trade it for a new one
