CICS Continues to Ring

I have noticed that the CICS will continue to ring a few times after the 90v ring signal has stopped on an analog line. I have a some analog phones hooked up outside the system (for caller ID purposes) and if a call is answered on them the CICS will continue to ring about 1-3 full times. This is a problem, especially when you try to use the AA to take calls after 4 or so rings. It doesnt seem to happen with the 6x16's. Same thing with different trunk cards LSDS/CLID, disconnect supervision enabled. Is there any setting that could change or affect this? I'd think the system would know that the line has stopped ringing, obviously there is no problem when a Norstar set answers the line..

Like all modern key systems the Norstar detects ring and generates ringing signal to sets. If line is answered before system it takes a moment for system to stop generating ring cycle. The only thing you can do is to put system phone in location to answer and turn ring off on call id phone. If call is answered before system you lose all benifits of having a key system like privacy, hold and transfer.

Generally speaking, dont use CO lines in parallel.

Does the problem happen, when you call and hangup (without the parallel phone)

Use a phone with an 'out'port - maybe that'll help

Yes same thing if I call in and hang up, the system rings about 2 additional times after ringing on the line has stopped.

I think you may be having a DS issue...

I have a 6.1 CICS and it will stop ringing once someone hangs up.

It is a well known fact that if you have an analog device wired to an analog line before the system, that when the analog device answers an incomming ring the key system takes a couple of ring cycles to determine that the line stopped ringing. This is due to rining generators in the KSU.

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..
