Receptionist answers a call on a trunk and then does transfer 9 and dials an outside line to connect to a cell phone. At that point two trunks are tied up. When the receptionist releases and leaves the original caller connected to the cell phone transfer will there still be two trunks tied up?

This customer has a lot of real estate agents on the road and this could happen quite often. Not only do they not have the trunks but the sound quality is hurt with two trunks.
Any suggestions?

How many analog lines do they have at the moment?

Switching to PRI with the same -or- more channels will produce a better quality transfer... Analog outside transfers always are degraded quality.

if you telco has the link capability that is the way to go

answers a call on a trunk and then do the link code (feature71) and dial cell phone when answered hang up call is connected and line is freed up for another call

Fireeater has it correct. Flash call transfer option from the CO will do it. It was a nice feature in the old days when the CO had Centrex.

wncarroza you don't have centrex where you are

here in canada they still have it ,but they also have local link (which is pretty much the same thing)

I haven't found a LEC that doesn't have "Centrex".

Most have changed the name, but all the features are still available.

The only exception is some CLECs that channel bank T1's, and most of those are adding the features.

ljclives....the only suitable way to transfer those kind of calls is with "link transfer" or Centrex type lines. Using analog trunks is the worst way of doing it....ties up multiple trunks, transmission drops drastically...only good for extreme emergencies. Even PRI presents a problem with tying up channels. I'm sure the provider has this type of trunk available.

teltom1-

You may want to start a new thread to eliminate confusion, but...

If you're picking up calls on an analog phone, you'll need to train people to use call park (f74). The analog set has an extension, just like all the other phones- call another extension to find out which it is. It'll display on their set.

To use features, press flash * on the set, then the feature code.

Otherwise, system programming on an ata is identical to digital extensions (ringing, call fwd, etc...).

In ATT you can get centrex or featurelink for the transfer feature. you would have to check with the business office for yoiour telco to get their name for the feature that you are trying to get (call transfer or 3 way calling)
