Have a MICS 4.1 and working on a Call Accounting project. Management wants to track Caller Id in reporting. Two questions.
1. For SMDR6 module to capture CI data do we need CI truck cards?
2. If we do need CI truck cards are they plug and play or is there major re/programing that will need to be done?

Not really interested in seeing CI data on phone sets, just capture with SMDR6.

You do not have to have CI trunk cards for either incoming or outgoing SMDR. If you want incoming SMDR you will have to subscribe to CLID for the telco. There is some programing to do if you want to see incoming CLID on the phones though.

Thanks for the clarify deadringer. My research was showing we didn't need hardware upgrade for SMDR data but another vendor was saying we needed CI truck cards.

If you are using the SMDR6 I do think you need the CI cards if you want Caller Information. You can use the SMDR and get records without the CI cards but it will only show Line Number and Extension no Caller ID. If someone knows something different please fill us in.

I think that Hawks is correct. You can log outgoing calls without CI cards but for incoming logging you need them.
