I have a Norstar CICS 2.0 and I am considering adding voicemail - I have never worked with, nor am I very familiar with the voicemail options.

I've found what looks like a good deal on a used NT5B74AAAZ, described online as "NORTEL STARTALK PLUS MODEL 6 R4.0 VOICEMAIL SYSTEM".

What are the specs of this system and is it the same as the more commonly seen product name "STARTALK FLASH"?

You're looking at a NAM. It needs to have copper ports to work with your CICS. It will have 6 active channels, 20+ hours of storage and 1000 mailboxes. A bit of overkill for your system, and they're also getting age on them, so the hard drive could be iffy. I'd recommend a Flash for your size system.

Yep definitely more than I need... but it's about $200 with a 30 day guarantee - was made in 1999. I haven't found a Flash system for under $500.

Still think I should be looking to Flash?

Is setup/configuration easier on one vs the other?

Thanks!

Even Startalk Mini's are going for 250-400
Look for it also if your budget is that tight.
Same applies as with the NAM as far as hard drives but if you buy from a refurbishing company you have a better chance.

-NAM, 2 channels to 16, 1000 mailboxes
-Flash 2 channels with 24 mailboxes - upgradable to 4 and 48.
-Flashlite 2 channels (very limited on what it can do), upgradable to unlock features via key code.
-Mini 2 channels with 24 mailboxes
-Call Pilot 100 with 4 channels and 10 mailboxes (purchase extra key codes per user/mailbox)

Stay away from Flash Light!!!

Other things to consider is your version of software in the CICS, 2.0 is low....we are at 7.1 so you may have compatibilty issues depending on what you buy, keep the vmail software high.

Also note you can get CICS 7.1 s/w with Call Pilot 100 bundles and Caller ID card for between 1,050-1,300.

You can get a Callpilot 100 eq/w 10 mailboxes at a resonable price around $500.00

Sorry, I neglected to see you only have 2.0 s/w on your CICS, you woyld have to move up to 4.1 to make it work right.
