Hi everyone,

Just asking for an opinion here.

Sometimes our front desk agent answers the phone, sometimes not... hence the prompting system kicks in.

We've had several customers mention that they don't realize that it's a person, or that it's the prompting system sometimes.. They can't make the difference in the first few seconds because both the real person and the prompt have a similar voice and they also say the same intro.

I've only seen one company (that I had to reach) that had some kind of a chime sound at the start (lasts like 2 seconds), so I don't know... should I do it or not. Either way I wont get in trouble with my bosses for doing it, but was wondering what most of you do at your own work site, and what some of you may recommend to your customers.

Not sure I can understand what your issues is.

What is the intro?

And what prompt are you talking about? do you mean the Auto Attendant or a Mailbox?

Sounds like your issue is how your receptionist answers calls or how your greeting is recorded.....only you can decide that.

A mailbox generates a tone, hence "please leave me a message after the tone".

I am talking about the auto attendant.

If the auto attendant answers, or if I answer, customer gets confused because they don't know if the auto attendant is a real person (for the first part of the greeting), and sometimes they think that I am the auto attendant. :)

But yeah. Easy fix, but was just looking for some opinions on "styles" or sounds to use at the start of the recorded auto attendant prompt system.

If I hear "You have reached ABC..." or "Thank you for calling ABC..." in a monotone voice then right away I know its AA.
If I hear "ABC, How can I help you?" then I know its a human.

Maybe get a member of the opposite sex to do AA.

Or have a battery door bell and press it during your recording.
Then you can have a DING and continue recording your announcement.

Always thinking out of the box???
