Hello All,

We have a T-Mobile Fusion card on loan to test for compatibility and we are having serious problems getting through to our checkpoint VPN using Securemote on GPRS/UMTS.
When it is used in a WLAN envirnoment it connects fine but as soon as you switch to UMTS or GPRS and connect we get a gateway not responding error message.
One strange thing that I have noticed is that when using UMTS or GPRS when you first configure Securemote it connects and exchanges the initial site certificate's fine, but then thereafter it doesn't want to know.

I have tried using the NAT Transversal methods -no joy

I have tried establishing a http link prior to using secremote to ensure I am connected -no joy

I have been assured that it does support IPSec and actually has refences to Checkpoint VPN clients in TFM and I have configured it as per TFM but - no joy

I was hoping that somebody had already encountered this problem and could steer me in the right direction for a solution if it is a configuration problem with Checkpoint or Securemote as I am on the verge of tearing my hair out.

This is a shot in the dark, but how does the T-Mobile card authenticate and establish the connection?

Some of these devices use third party dialers, and even local caching software. SecuRemote won't be able to contact the gateway if the adapter is not bound to a network interface, and in my experience, these types of cards create a dialup connection - check the Network Connections Control Panel and see if one was created for T-Mobile, if so, try to connect as if it were a dial-up connection.

May or may not work...

Fixed it!,
You were on the right lines phannah, it seems on Windows XP it dynamically creates the dialup network connection every time it connects (i.e. it doesn't sit in network connections the whole time.) it appears and disappear depending if you are connected or not, now even though, when connected, it was showing the securemote client being bound to the interface in the properties it was obviously lying to me.
I uninstalled Securemote, connected to the GPRS network and then re-installed the Securemote. Voila success!

Thanks for the help!
