Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if this idea is even possible...

If the value of this cell is "dupSSN1" and "dupSSN1" exists in a previous cell in this column, then concatenate an "ins" to "dupSSN" in this cell.

Example:
dupSSN1
dupSSN1ins
dupSSN2
dupSSN2ins

...where the formula has checked the column for the value, sees it would be a duplicate, and appends "ins" to the second instance.

Thanks,
EB

Hi,

Does it need to be in the same column? Using sheet functions...
[tt]
B1: =A1&if(COUNTIF($A$1:A1,A1)>1,"ins","")
[/tt]
assuming that the data is in column A

Skip,
