Lately I have been getting a blue screen that checks drive C for consistency on start up and when i reboot. It is becoming an inconvience because it takes a long time to complete. I never shut down or restart in the middle of a application being open or being in use either. Any help would be appreciated.

not to cause alarm but, that's what i was getting before my hard drive went in the can.

Some things to check out.

316506 - Chkdsk Runs Each Time That You Start Your Computer

You Receive a "System Has Recovered from a Serious Error" Message After Every Restart (Q317277)
The fix in this might work for Chkdsk.

thread751-239387

To know if you've got a file system error, you can type the following command at the command prompt:

fsutil dirty query c: (replace c: with your drive letter)

If the response is that the volume is dirty, then a file system error has occurred, and Chkdsk should run automatically at startup to fix the errors.
