Check server Domain's

I have two window servers on different domains I want to change one domain to another is this possible.
The old domain that I want to change is backup.local and I want it in the ISmaster.local domain and I am running active directory on the backup.local server.

Are they both Primary? Long story short is you need to demote the one you want to change to a nothing prior to a promotion to another domain control position. Google "dcpromo demote

after working on the server I ended up removing active directory then deleted the dns and reconfigured to the main dns then installed active dirctory. the system is up but need to clean up some more on Friday.
