Check My New Site.. PLEASE?? 9

Hi,

I have just launched a new site and would like as many people as possible to review it for me.

I asked for a review before and got some negative feedback so I have changed the whole layout. You wouldn`t beleive it was the same site!!

Please could you tell me:-

Browser used.
Connection.
Approximate page loading speed.
Any problems encountered.(Display or otherwise)
Any other comments you may have(Good or bad).

Hi Chel,

The problem is the host I am with.

They provide advertisment free hosting and there is no charge for the service. The worst part is, I can`t really complain too much as I am not paying for the service.

I am moving hosts in the next few weeks so the problems should all be resolved then.

well i can see the site and it looks great! i'm using ie 5.5 and cable, it only took like 3 sec to dwld. the only thing i could sudgest is mabe a logo rather that just your url up at the top of the page. but other than that looks great! not knowing is an excuse for those umwilling to lern -- John Rueben

Hi, finally I can view this page!
For the first page, loading time is around 1 minute. But some of the linked page cannot be displayed. I think it's due to the loading time.

I agree with your comments about the logo but one thing that I am totally useless at is graphics!!!

The load time of the page should never be anywhere that high so that will be the problem with the links not displaying.

Just another problem to add to the list!!

Hum...Loading time is how long we take to load a page, right? Maybe I had made a mistake with the time but it's really fast in displaying this page the other day. I had refreshed many times until I got that page.
However I couldn't get that page after that day.

Hi Chel,

I`m sorry, but it seems to me that you misunderstood my comments.

Please notice I said "Another problem to add to the list".

I did not mean that you were wrong, far from it.

I have had loads of problems with this host and the load time is just another one to add to a long, long list!!

The reason you had to refresh the page a few times was probably to do with the fact that you had tried to view the page before and got a DNS error. Chances are, your computer was trying to load the site from it`s cache. I might be wrong about this but that is the only reason I can come up with.

Who is your host wullie? I used to host my site on free servers and I had no end of problems. Maybe I've used them before.

A word of warning, if you do go to a paid host, DON't be fooled by these special offer hosts, as they can genreally be as bad (if not worse) than freebie hosts.

As the old adage says, "You get what you pay for".

Pay as much as you can, and you'll get a much better service. =) Ahdkaw

I totally agree with what you have said about getting what you pay for, the reason I am with this host in the first place is that I was off work ill for quite a while and couldn`t afford to pay for a host.

As the other saying goes "You learn from your mistakes!"

I certainly have learned and will only be using portland for testing purposes in the future.
