How do i check the DLT tape backup date ? As i have few DLT backup tapes, and i wish to know what's the date that the DLT tape has been used for backup.

Thanks for your advise.

depends on what was used to do the backup, if its a basic unix level backup, a guess is it was done using vdump, rewind the tape and use: # vrestore -tvf <device>
this will read back from the tape what is on there and from that you will see the date etc.

Thanks for your advise, Rexxy.

I have tried the vrestore -tvf command but it listed the entire tape structure.

What i need is the backup date and time would be good enough.

Any alternative ?

Thanks.

ok, use the interactive option which will show on the first line when it was done...so...

# vrestore -ivf <device>

that will show the date of the vdump

Thank you very much, Rexxy.

I got exactly what i want with the command you provide.

I owe you one, thanks !
