I have a customer with a cics running 6.1 with a callpilot voice mail. They had me change the voicemail to autologon. That worked great, as I knew it would. Then they had one extension, a type of voice mail box for verbally signing up for classes. This phone is not set to autologon. They want to be able to check this extension manually from the other phones in the office. It is Nortel T7316e phone. I do not know how to do this. If you go to a phone and dial 981 you get signed into voice mail. Is there a way to tell what extension mail box you want when you enter 981.....I do not think it will work internally...I feel certain you could call in externally and get the voice mails on the reservation phone, but I do not know how to do it internally...

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I think you might need to try "Feature" 985

Code Voice Mail Features Brief Description

980 Leave MSG Send messages to others.
981 Open MBox Log into mailboxes and listen to messages.
982 Operator Allows users to set the Operator settings. Business open, etc.
984 Auto-forward Call forward to the Voice mail DN.
985 View VM DN Used to determine the DN of Voicemail
986 Transfer Allows users to transfer callers to VMail.
987 Interrupt Allows user to grab a caller form the Mailbox.
988 Name Dialing Users can enter a persons name to make an internal call.
989 Record Call Record calls.

When checking messages from another phone...
Log: means enter mailbox number plus password

Usually the ext and mailbox number match but when reception (say X221) uses the General Delivery it would be mailbox 10 or 100 or 1000 etc
To view the ext number of the phone do Feature * 0 then press Intercom
Otherwise you need to log into admin and search which is challenging unless you use a browser on Callpilot versions.

Direction from another phone:
Feature 981
OTHER
XXXyyyy
OK

XXX = the mailbox number
yyyy = the password

So if mail 222 has password of 4676
then:
F981 OTHER 2224676 OK

From outside/off premise:
Dial into the system and wait for any greeting to answer, **2224676#

Auto Login only applies to the phone that owns the mailbox, it has no impact for all others trying to log into it be it internal from another set or external.

Unfortunately you have discovered the draw back of auto-logon. Any phone that a voicemail with it activated can not check other mailboxes as there is no opportunity to press "other" after F981. The only option is to call through a back door or find a phone that has no voice mail associated.

True that, when checking other mailboxes from an Auto Login mailbox.

I don't even tell people about that feature for their own sake.

" it has no impact for all others trying to log into it be it internal from another set or external."

Yes I miss wrote that line, I even tested yesterday prior to writing it and you cannot check a mailbox that has auto login activated be it internal or external ....it's like a security feature so people cannot break in and or setup Toll Fraud.

Tks guys, I could find a way, thought maybe I missed something...I guess they could call in remotely to auto attendant. But that would be cumbersome. Easier to what to phone.

Tks

Much easier to disable Auto Login and punch in a 4 digit password....but if they insist on the Auto Login then program an external auto dial on the required sets.

F*1
Press button
XXX-XXX-XXXXPPPP**2224676#

To Enter the P for Pause press Feature 78 as many times as needed
Each pause is about 1.5 seconds.
