Chart problem

Hi,

Maybe this is very simple but i can't find it.

I have a column with values : 0,063 0,05 1,00 2,00

I want to display these values on the x-axis of the chart but all i get is 1 2 3 4

Any ideas ??

these values must be displayed on the x-axis as shown above.

This is the data-range that has to show three lines and can be scaled.

second column 20 30 40 50
third column 40 60 80 90
fourth column 30 40 50 60

Right click on chart and select Source Data

On Series Tab you should have THREE SERIES

Each series should have x-values range in column A

Each series has its own y-axis range in columns B, C & D respectively.

The values on the x-axis have to be shown as i told you, not scaled

like this 0,063 0,05 1,00 2,00
what i'm getting is 0,00 1,00 2,00 3,00

1. You must change the chart type to x-y

2. In the Chart Source Data you must EXPLICITLY make EACH SERIES X-Axis data range reference the VALUES IN COLUMN A

Did you do those things? If you did, you would have three series of match pairs of data.

When you are creating your chart, first select the data in the second, third and fourth columns, then click the chart wizard. The second step ( step 2 of 4 - Data Range and Series ), allows you to control what happens. You need to choose Series In Columns option on the Data Range tab. Then select the Series tab, and in the Category (X) Axis Labels box choose the values from the first column. Press Finish.

It just occurred to me.

I have ASSUMED that you are using the European decimal symbol of [COMMA]. I had to REPLACE the [COMMA] with [DECIMAL] to CONVERT the x-axis STRING values to NUMBERS.

THEN you can select the ENTIRE table, start the Chart Wizard, select x-y (scatter), select Data Range in COLUMNS, [Finish] and it works for me.

But the KEY was to make the values in column A, NUMBERS. If you can perform an arithmetic computation on values in column a, you have numbers, and should be able to replicate my process.

Hey Skip, are you sure this person wants X-Y scatter?

It sounds to me as if they simply want the values in the first column to be used as X-axis labels.
