hi

I have an excel file which I'm going to to convert to xml. The issue is that the file has foreign characters in it which obvioulsy have to be converted though when i use the xml conversion tool it won't parse them. Will it be ok to simply convert them to their eqeuivalent unicode characters if I'm using US - ASCII and would this then parse ok ?

cheers

chris

I was under the impression that M$ used xml as the core of all their new file structures.
Take a copy of your Excel file and try unzipping it. You may find an xml file inside!

what do you mean ?

i've tried opening it using winzip and it opens as a set of symbols.

I was under the impression that M$ had moved from plain binary to compressed xml.
Maybe not.
Or maybe there is a facility to export or save as an xml file type.
I don't have excel available since I use linux but it might be worth a look. It might save you lots of work if it's there.
