character displayed incorrectly using iso 8859-1

Hi.. I have a problem with the following characters:
ÉTÉ CÉDÉÉ À

In IE, the html source is correct, however it's displayed incorrectly by the browser if we view the page online.
In Netscape 4, the the html source is wrong, the above characters are changed to:
Ã‰TÃ‰ CÃ‰DÃ‰Ã‰ Ã€

Anybody has any idea? Thanks.

I think maybe you must check this list to see if your characters can be show in browser.
Take a look :

http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/sgml/entities.html.

Have you tried it using character entities instead?:
[tt]
&Eacute;T&Eacute; C&Eacute;D&Eacute;&Eacute; &Agrave;
[/tt]

Also, have you considered declaring UTF-8 instead of iso-8859-1?

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

Browsers will not display some characters unless you do this.
