Channel-Group Configuration Needed

I have 2 Cisco 2960's . I use Ports 45 - 48 in a Trunk mode and have created EtherChannels to attempt to double my link speed between the switches. When I do a "sho etherchannel detail, I show that on Switch 1 port 47 is "Down not in bundle" and on Switch 2 "Down not in bundle". However the channel-group is up for on the other two ports between the two switches...What am I missing here?

2960-1 - Ports 47,48 in Channel-Group 1 Mode desirable non-silent (Uplink to Switch 2)Trunk Ports for VTP purposes

2960-2 - Ports 45,46 in Channel-Group 1 Mode desirable non-silent (Uplink to Switch 1)Trunk Ports for VTP purposes

ViperGG, if your reading this you gave me this config about 9 months ago and it worked great...not sure what's different about these switches other than the newer version of IOS...

Shouldn't be any different , just make sure the configs on the connectings ports on each side are exactly the same otherwise the switch will not aggregate the channels , make sure stuff like speeds and duplex and if any trunking information all has to match extactly . Also bring all your ports up at the same time useing the interface range command . If you try to add the channel group command to each port one at a time it won't work as you then have unequal parameters on each side .If you can post the link configs we can take a look at them .

I did use the int range g0/xx - xx command on both switches as well. I've also gone back and forth between silent and non-silent configurations...

Please post the show runn configs for ports 45-48 on each side. Are these trunked also or just a straight port channel ?

Don't think ti makes any difference but just for troubleshooting sake you might want to match up the ports on each side I see you have port 48 on one side going to port 46 on the other . Just easier to troubleshooting if you keep things symetrical.

Sorry I may have read your post wrong in your intial post I thought you meant you had aggragated 4 ports across the links but you only did a 2 port etherchannel . A show runn would help , thanks...

Instead of forcing the trunk on try this each port . This will negotiate the trunk instead of forcing it on . Also I have to ask the simple question you do have a link light between port 45 and 47 on the opposite side . Also check the logs it will usually give you an indication of why it did or did not build the channel . Make sure to bring port ports up at the same time .

switchport mode dynamic desirable
switchport trunk native vlan 1
